So for our next dinner which is our 1 year anniversary/birthday for Gulf Pig we have decided to let you choose the menu. Normally we try not to repeat any dishes we have done for Gulf Pig but in this instance we thought it would be fun to give you the chance to vote on your favorite dishes to make up this special meal. Last month we were fortunate enough to hold another Gulf Pig dinner. This one was held at Columbia Cafe which recently changed hands and is now Stir Wine & Tapas. The duo behind this new venture is Chase Boytim and Paul Roney. I never thought I would do a Gulf Pig at this location ( looooong story) but when I heard Chase had recently purchased it I jumped on the chance to hold one here, luckily so did he.  For this dinner we were missing half of our usual team due to a shoulder injury but our friends from Wine Country Bistro stepped up and helped us out. We also had the most attendees for this dinner,60, and 2/3rds of them were brand new customers. As always we had a few challenges/change ups in the kitchen but besides the Louisiana heat I think the dinner went fairly smooth. Look for an announcement on the next “few” shortly………

Yes you read that right – Two Nights of Gulf Pig,back to back – mark your calendars now. Since it has been almost two months since our last dinner we wanted to do something a little different and give everyone a shot to experience a Gulf Pig Dinner. The menu will be the same both nights with maybe an added treat or two

There are TWO main differences for these next dinners :

1. Instead of being on a Sunday the dinners will be held on a Thursday 6:30pm and Friday night at 7 pm.

2. In the past you were not asked to decide (and pay for ) a wine pairing till the night of. For these two dinners we ask that if you are interested in a wine pairing that you purchase it ahead of time in order for the host restaurant to get a better idea of how much to purchase for this event. You WILL still be able to purchase a wine pairing the night of BUT we ask that if interested to please purchase along with your dinner tickets beforehand.

As usual once tickets are purchased, they will be mailed out to you at least a week before the dinner is to be held and will reveal the location of the meal.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Don’t start those New Years Diet plans just yet because we have set the date for the 3rd Gulf Pig Dinner to be held on Sunday January 29th 2012 from 6-9 pm.  As usual once tickets are purchased, they will be mailed out to you at least a week before the dinner is to be held and will reveal the location of the meal.

We have set the theme for the this dinner to be Contemporary Southern, think flavors you would have for a Sunday meal at your Grandmother’s house but with a modern “Gulf Pig” spin on them. The menu is still being finalized but here are some flavors to look out for : Pimento Cheese, Fried Chicken, Sweet Potatoes, Greens, Pork, Buttermilk, Catfish just to name a few
